Design by the famed French architect Gustave Eiffel, this bodega was constructed in honour of Queen Isabel II of Spain after her visit to the bodegas in October of 1862. After this visit the bodega was also used to welcome King Alfonso XII, Alfonso XIII and recently the King and Queen of Spain, Juan Carlos and Sofia, who visited on May 8, 2000. Within the bodega there are a total of 214 casks full of the La Concha Amontillado showing the flags of the 115 countries to which the wines of Gonzalez&Byass are exported.

This bodega, built in 1857, is square in shape and has a total of 56 columns. In 1862, a grape pressing was performed here at the express wish of HM Queen Isabel II of Spain during her visit to the bodega. Although the Queen visited in October, after the end of the harvesting season, Manuel Mª Gonzalez solved the problem by acquiring all the grapes which remained in the region to be consumed in the autumn. This grape pressing produced 33 casks of wine which were stored in immense casks with a capacity of 16500 litres that was order to be built in Germany. It was called El Cristo because of the coincidence between its capacity measured in the number of casks it contained and the age of Jesus at the time of his death. The casks are named after the twelve apostles and are positioned in the same order as they appear in the famous painting by Leonardo Da Vinci "The Last Supper", replacing the name of Judas Escariot with Matthew.
