Over a hundred and fifty years ago Manuel María González Angel founded his small bodegas in Jerez and since then many things have occurred. While González Byass continues to be a family-run company, with the same enterprising spirit and dedication of our founder, Tio Pepe can now be found in over one hundred countries around the world.

1835
|
| Manuel Mª González founds the Company Manuel Maria González in Jerez. |
|
|
|
|
1836
|
| The company name is changed to Manuel María González y Cía with the entry of the partners Francisco Gutiérrez Agüera and Juan Bautista Dubosc López from Haro. |
|
|
|
|
1838
|
| The company is renamed González y Dubosc. |
|
|
|
|
1843
|
| Manuel Maria buys the land of the present site of the Bodega "Los Apóstoles" "La Cuadrada" and "La Concha" as well as the first vineyards. |

|
|
|
1844
|
| The first shipment of Tio Pepe is sent to Britain and modern stills are built to obtain aguardente from the wine. |
|
|
|
|
1850
|
| New stills are acquired in Scotland and later in France. |
|
|
|
|
1855
|
| Robert Blake Byass becomes a partner, and the company name is changed to González, Dubosc y Cía. The first bodega "La Constancia" is built. |

|
|
|
1856
|
| González Dubosc y Cía becomes the top exporter of Jerez, with a total volume of 3,885 barrels. |

|
|
|
1857
|
| The bodega "Los Apóstoles" is inaugurated, at first called "La Union". |
|
|
|
|
1859
|
| The bodegas "La Constancia" and "Los Gigantes" are built. |
|
|
|
|
1862
|
| HM Queen Elisabeth II visits the bodega. |
|
|
|
|
1863
|
| The name of the firm becomes González & Byass. |
|
|
|
|
1869
|
| The Real Bodega de La Concha is built, attributed to G.B. Eiffel. |

|
|
|
1870
|
| The sons of Manuel Maria González: Manuel Críspulo and Pedro Nolasco González de Soto, and the sons of Robert B. Byass: Robert and Arthur Nicholl become partners in the firm. The company is renamed González Byass & Co. |

|
|
|
1882
|
| HM King Alfonso XII visits the Bodegas. |
|
|
|
|
1884
|
| Mechanical bottlers are introduced. |
|
|
|
|
1887
|
| Upon the death of Manuel Mª González Angel, his son Pedro Nolasco, Marquis of Torresoto, becomes head of the company. |

|

|
1888
|
| The Tio Pepe trademark is registered. |
|
|
|
|
1890
|
| Three new stills are acquired. The first is of the Coffray & Egrot system for the high distilling and the other two are swan-neck stills with a triple heating system for low distilling (Lepanto). |

|
|
1896
|
| The brand Soberano is launched and the González Byass Co. Ltd. is incorporated in London. |
|
|
|
|
1904
|
| HM King Alfonso XIII visits the Bodegas. |
|
|
|
|
1908
|
| The brandy Lepanto is registered as a trademark. |
|
|
|
|
1935
|
| The first centenary of González Byass is celebrated and the Tio Pepe icon is created, work of Luis Perez Solero. |
|
|
|
|
1941
|
| Inauguration of the Gonzalez Byass train station. |
|
|
|
|
1963
|
| The Gran Bodega Tio Pepe is built by the architect Eduardo Torroja. |
|
|
|
|
1969
|
| The company acquires the Alcoholera de Chinchon of (Madrid). |
|
|
|
|
1972
|
| The immense bodega "Las Copas" is built, where the entire winemaking process is centralised. |
|
|
|
|
1980
|
| The new bottling machines of Las Copas and shortly thereafter the Bodega Marques de Bonanza are finished. |
|
|
|
|
1982
|
| The company acquires bodegas de Beronia of Ollauri (Rioja Alta). |
|
|
|
|
1983
|
| A horrific fire occurs in the brandy warehouses of Las Copas. Almost a million cases of brandy prepared for the Christmas Campaign burn. |

|
|
|
1985
|
| González Byass receives the Gold Medal of the City of Jerez in honour of the 150th anniversary of the company's founding. |

|
|
|
1988
|
| The Gonzalez family buys all the shares of the Byass family. |
|
|
|
|
2000
|
| The King and Queen of Spain, HM Juan Carlos and Sofia visit the Bodega. |
|
|
|
|
2001
|
| The New Presentation of Tio Pepe is launched and the Bodegas Croft Jerez are acquired. |
|
|
|
|
2005
|
| The Tio Pepe Contemporary Art Collection is created. The new stills for Lepanto are re-inaugurated and the new cavas from Castell de Villarnau in Barcelona are inaugurated. |
